The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Wednesday, 29 July, 2026, held a high-profile Press Soirée at the University’s Building Auditorium. The event brought together Management, staff, representatives of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and leading media practitioners from both national and local outlets. Its purpose was to reinforce bilateral relations, explore new collaborative opportunities, and highlight the University’s advancement.

Delivering the welcome address, the Registrar, Dr. Anthony H. Turkson, emphasised that the Soirée was strategically organised to deepen the mutually beneficial collaboration between CCTU and the media. He noted that the forum provided an invaluable platform to showcase the University’s vision and recent milestones, its societal impact and sustainable academic growth.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, in his keynote address, acknowledged the media as an indispensable partner in the University’s development. He expressed gratitude for the press’s consistent coverage and support of CCTU’s programmes.

Prof. Boakye outlined strategic measures to expand student enrollment under the “Operation 4K” agenda, aimed at increasing annual intake and positioning CCTU to train over 30,000 students by 2030. He revealed ongoing discussions with private investors to provide additional hostel facilities, complementing Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) projects to meet rising accommodation demands.

He further announced that beginning next academic year, CCTU would introduce a compulsory Artificial Intelligence (AI) and soft skills programme for all students, alongside a smart classroom initiative and blended learning adoption to enhance the student experience.

Highlighting innovation, Prof. Boakye shared that CCTU was preparing to commercialise proprietary technologies to empower local communities and industries. These include:

• Smart Agricultural Equipment: modernised mechanical planters to optimise yields.
• Agro-Processing Outputs: organic fertilizers, manure, and specialised animal feeds.
• Sustainable E-Mobility: solar-powered vehicles for eco-friendly transport.
• Modernised Infrastructure: state-of-the-art facilities to support teaching and learning.

Beyond digital transformation, CCTU was strengthening its national relevance through community engagement initiatives such as the Young Engineers Programme (YEP) and partnerships with Ankaful Prisons to equip inmates with employable skills, bridging the gap between academic research and industrial application.

Mr. Kingsley Nana Buadu, Central Regional Chair of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), commended CCTU’s growth and assured continued media support. He also appealed for special admission arrangements for journalists to further their education and enhance their professional skills.

The evening concluded with an interactive Question &Answer session, followed by networking and photography to commemorate the milestone engagement.
