The desire to attain quality tertiary education and training has increased over the years among Ghanaians and the world at large. Inadequate infrastructure and other resources have posed a challenge for tertiary institutions to absorb the growing numbers of applicants who sought for tertiary education. As a result, the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Directorate was set up with the aim of providing an opportunity for people to have access to tertiary education and more importantly, to provide flexible learning opportunities to the working class to learn at a time, place, and pace which satisfy their circumstances and requirements.

The ODL offers accredited online undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from the University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and a scholarship package for prospective applicants to these programmes. The ODL also runs HND and Diploma programmes via distance, weekends and evenings modes. With this mode, the Directorate ensures that the quality standards of  teaching and assessment of the Univerity are maintained to create parity between the conventional system and the distance learning system.

Admission Requirements

1. BSc. Data Science   

• Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate with scores in the top 30% of your academic year
• Proof of English skills:
• TOEFL (min. 80 points) or
• IELTS (min. Level 6) or
• Duolingo English test (min. 51%) or Cambridge Certificate (min. B grade overall) or Equivalent proof

2. MBA & Master Programmes

Preliminary Studies

• Completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised higher educational institution
• Degree grade of lower second class (2.2) or an international equivalent

60 ECTS MSc.

• Artificial Intelligence,
• Data Science 
• Computer Science in IT Security

• With 240 ECTS from first degree
• With 210 ECTS from first degree: pass an aptitude test (TASC)
• With 180 ECTS from first degree: pass an aptitude test (TASC)
• "Advanced Mathematics" and "Programming with Python" required or provide comparable previous knowledge
• Proof of min. one year of relevant work experience

60 ECTS MBA:

• With 210 ECTS from first degree: direct enrolment possible
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience before the start of the study programme
• 2 years of relevant work experience by the end of the study programme

90 ECTS MBA:

• With 180 ECTS from first degree
• Degree grade of lower second class (2.2) or an international equivalent

120 ECTS MSc:

• Artificial Intelligence,
• Data Science
• With 180 ECTS from first degree
• Degree grade of lower second class (2.2) or an international equivalent
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience after your first university level degree
