GHANA ELECTRONIC PROCUREMENT SYSTEM TRAINING

As part of preparations to migrate Cape Coast Technical University to the Ghana Electronic Procurement platform, the Directorate of Procurement organised a two-day workshop on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 and Wednesday, July 24, 2024, respectively at the Library Conference Room.

Participants were drawn from Schools, Directorates, Departments, Sections and Units of the University. In his welcome address, Mr. Emmanuel Mensah, the Acting Director of Procurement, mentioned that all government institutions are required to migrate to the Electronic Procurement System within a stipulated time. According to him, when the process of migration is completed, all procurements will strictly be done on the electronic platform.

He underscored the importance of the workshop by saying that the essence of the training was to equip participants with requisite knowledge and skills before the migration. He concluded that after the migration, all procurements would be initiated by user directorates or schools instead of the former practice where the Directorate of Procurement was solely responsible.

The presenter from the Public Procurement Authority took participants through the rudiments of account creation, how to add users, how to scan for existing tenders, how to initiate tenders, how to evaluate suppliers, how to authenticate the validity of suppliers' documents and many more.
