The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) hosted the National Executive Officers of the Technical University Teachers' Association of Ghana (TUTAG) for a strategic consultative meeting at the University’s Council Chamber on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, together with Management members and TUTAG Local Executives received the guests. The CCTU Team included Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw (Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Anthony H. Turkson (Registrar), Mr. Kwabena Owusu (Director of Finance), Dr. Augustine Adoku Alu (Acting University Librarian), Mr. Gabriel Hagan (Director of Works and Physical Development), Dr. David Kofi Ampah (TUTAG Charmain), Prof. David Yaro (TUTAG Vice Chairman), Dr. Sandra Ama Kaburi (TUTAG Treasurer) and Surv. Carlos Otoo-Kwofie (TUTAG Organiser).

The TUTAG National Executive Team, on the other hand, was led by the President, Prof. Deodat Emilson Adenutsi and comprised: the Vice President, Dr. Frank Kulor; the General Secretary, Dr. Francis Fonyee Nutsugah; the Treasurer, Mr. Peter Tsohe; the Organiser, Mr. Francios Mahama; and the Gender Officer, Ms. Patience Glauh-Jeh Dedume.

The entourage also included members of the Project Committee; Engr. Prof. Eric Awere (Dean, School of Engineering, CCTU) Prof. Jamal Mohammed (Chairman, TUTAG, KTU), Licenced Surveyor, Ing. Dr. George Dordah (Chairman, TUTAG-BTU), and Dr. David Kofi Ampah (Charmain, TUTAG-CCTU).

The high-profile engagement, which marked the national team’s first official courtesy call to the University this year, focused on an on-site inspection of an ongoing Students’ Hostel Project.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, Prof. Deodat Emilson Adenutsi stated that the visit was to assess construction progress and find practical mechanisms to accelerate implementation. "Our main purpose is to explore practical ways to fast-track this project for timely completion", the TUTAG representative stated. He further expressed appreciation to the project teams, noting that their dedication inspired deep confidence in achieving shared institutional milestones.

Responding to the delegation, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye hailed the dialogue with TUTAG as “a new chapter of constructive engagement”. He lauded the Union members for their professionalism and expertise, noting their vital role in shaping the future of Ghanaian education. The Vice-Chancellor’s remarks underscored the importance of collaboration between university leadership and academic staff in driving quality and innovation across the sector.

In a significant policy charge, Prof. Ayim Boakye urged TUTAG leadership to design and strengthen internal measures to retain highly trained lecturers, cautioning against the attrition of academic professionals to other associations. He underscored that collective action, absolute unity, and a shared vision were vital to overcoming the contemporary challenges facing the technical education sector.

Dr. David Kofi Ampah described the encounter as exceptionally enlightening and thanked the Vice-Chancellor and Management for the warm reception. He also commended the national executive body for its proactive outreach and expressed optimism that continued stakeholder cooperation would see the ongoing project completed in the shortest possible time.

The meeting concluded with both CCTU Management and TUTAG reaffirming their commitment to maintaining open communication channels and building a robust partnership designed to benefit faculty members, students, and the broader educational community.
