CCTU’s 40th Anniversary Diary: Engr. Dr. Jeriscot Henry Quayson Honoured as ‘Alumnus of the Week’, Episode 9
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the studios of Eagle 87.7 MHz, Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), Engr. Dr. Jeriscot Henry Quayson was recognised as the distinguished “Alumnus of the Week”. Engr. Dr. Jeriscot Henry Quayson earned his Higher National Diploma in Building Technology from the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), formerly Cape Coast Polytechnic, in 2002. He received a Diploma in Project Management from the United Kingdom in 2010 and completed a Bachelor of Construction Technology at KNUST in 2013. Engr. Dr. Quayson also holds a Master of Science in Engineering Project Management from Coventry University, United Kingdom (2015), and a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa (2023).


Engr. Dr. Quayson began his career as a Laboratory Technician at the University in March, 2008 and is now a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Construction Technology and Management (CCTU). Over the years, his dedication and expertise propelled him through various roles, culminating in his appointment as the Vice Dean of the School of Built and Natural Environment and Head of Construction Technology and Management from August 1, 2025, to September 1, 2025, at CCTU.
“Engr. Dr. Quayson has made significant contributions to his Department, School, and the University at large. He has served as the School’s Programmes Coordinator and Quality Assurance Coordinator from 2023 to 2025, and currently, the Faculty Examinations Officer and Department Examinations Officer. Engr. Dr. Quayson has been the Department’s Liaison Coordinator, Project Coordinator, and Laboratory Coordinator since 2015. In 2023, he took on the leadership role of new programmes curriculum development and chaired the University’s 40th Anniversary Legacy Project Sub-Committee,” – the Director of Public Affairs stated.
Beyond the classroom, he is deeply involved in community service, sharing his construction and engineering expertise as a resource person on local radio and television stations, including Eagle FM 87.7MHz, Darling 90.9FM, and Coastal TV.
He has also generously contributed to fundraisers such as the COVID-19 Support Initiative organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), and serves the Methodist Church of Ghana’s Children’s Ministry Directorate.
Engr. Dr. Quayson is a consulting engineer, providing technical and professional assistance since 2014. He serves on several committees, including the Examination Committee, Interview Panel, and Engineering Ethics Committee of IET-GH. He is also a member of the Ghana Institution of Construction and a licensed Professional Engineer with IET-GH.


His research interests primarily focus on the maintenance of buildings and infrastructural facilities. Notably, he has conducted a significant study on the impact of abandoned state-funded construction projects in Ghana, identifying poor project planning and scheduling as key contributors to such challenges.
Engr. Dr. Quayson has numerous research papers and publications, further establishing his expertise in construction management and technology.

Following his introduction, Engr. Dr. Quayson expressed heartfelt appreciation for being recognised as the “Alumnus of the Week”. He described the honour as both humbling and inspiring, noting that it had strengthened his commitment to continuous growth and service.
He concluded by encouraging the youth to stop procrastinating by breaking large tasks into smaller steps to manage their time better. Quoting, “there is more sleep after death,” he explained that hard work does not break bones but rather helps one to achieve his/her life goal.
