A PROFESSOR AT CCTU LAUNCHES A BOOK ON LABOUR PRODUCTIVITY IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION

Surv. Prof. Emmanuel Bamfo Agyei, a seasoned professional of the Department of Built and Natural Resources - Cape Coast Technical University, has launched a book on Labour Productivity in Road Construction in Africa.

Giving an overview of the book, Prof. Bamfo-Agyei said the book stems from the productivity of labour-intensive work in road construction across the African continent. He co-authored the book with Prof. Clinton Aigbavboa (Director, DSI/NRF Research Chair in Sustainable Construction, University of Johannesburg, South Africa) and Prof. Wellington Didibhuku Thwala (Executive Dean, Walter Sisulu, University in East London, South Africa).

The book explores the strengths, weaknesses and prospects of labour-intensive road construction work. The authors also reviewed well-referenced literature in the area of road construction.

The Book Launch had a plenary session where industry players and academia discussed the consequences of labour-intensive road construction work.

Prof. Lawrence Atepor (Ag. Pro. VC) who chaired the event, in his remark, stressed that the book will help readers understand how they can effectively measure labour productivity in road construction. According to him, the insight explored by the authors will undoubtedly change the phase of road construction in Africa.

The book launch which was held at the GNAT Hall on the CCTU - Eyifuah road saw in attendance; Prof. Lawrence Atepor (Ag. Pro. VC) and Rep. of the Vice-Chancellor for the occasion, Mr. Michael Magnus Bentil (Director of Human Resource) and Rep. of Registrar for the occasion, Prof. Mustapha Zakari (Dean, Built and Natural Environment), Rev. Ndebuguri (Chaplain-CCTU), Surv. Prof. Prosper Laari (National Coordinator of Ghana Productivity Safety Net Project), Madam Roda Gavor (Rep. Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations), Surv. Prof. Gabriel Nani (Secretary Quantity Surveying Division of GHIS), Deans, Heads of Directorates/Departments of CCTU, other members of the University Community and Students.
