Ing. Abdulai Mahama Calls for Alumni Support as CCTU Seeks Funding for a 500 Million Cedi Legacy Students' Hostel Project
Engineer Abdulai Mahama, the CEO of MATRAS Engineering Services Ltd., has urged Cape Coast Technical University alumni to rally behind the Institution's 500 Million cedi Legacy Students' Hostel Project, describing it as a testimony of what alumni solidarity could achieve for future generations.

Speaking as Guest Speaker at the 40th Anniversary Grand Durbar of CCTU on Friday, November 28, 2025, Engineer Mahama, a 2003 alumnus and Senior Project Manager of Ghana's first 10-lane road project, emphasised that the time had come for graduates to give back to the institution that shaped their careers. He called on alumni, both at home and abroad, corporate bodies and well-wishers to support what he described as an investment in student welfare and the future of technical education.
The Engineer disclosed that the University raised 400,000 Ghana cedis during the launching of the Anniversary last year, toward the 2500-Bed capacity Students' Hostel, and revealed that the sod-cutting ceremony had already been conducted. He noted that the project, estimated at 500 million Ghana cedis or approximately 45 million dollars, represented more than just a building but a shared vision for technical education advancement.

He praised University Management and staff for infrastructure development and academic progress, describing their work as reshaping Ghana's human capital. He challenged students to embrace their training, asserting that being a product of a technical university was not a limitation but a competitive advantage in a rapidly changing world driven by technology, innovation and creativity.
The Guest Speaker championed technical and vocational education as the backbone of industrialisation and innovation, arguing that Ghana could not build a resilient economy without strong technical institutions. He called for renewed partnership among government, industry, alumni and academia, advocating for more resources, industrial linkages and innovation-friendly policies to empower institutions like CCTU.

Reflecting on his personal journey, Engineer Mahama expressed pride that the brain behind Ghana's biggest road infrastructure project originated from the campus, emphasising the University's role as a beacon of hope and transformation. He urged students to remember that success was measured not just by personal achievement but by contribution to others and the nation.
