CCTU Fashion Department Hosts Spectacular Fashion Show to Commemorate Semester's Success
The Fashion Design and Textile Studies Department of the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Friday August 1, 2025, at the University’s Ceremonial grounds hosted a dazzling Fashion Show, showcasing the students' creativity and talent in designing and creating stunning garments and accessories. The event, themed “Chic, Glamour and Gala” formed part of the students’ requirement for graduation and was a testament to the Department's commitment to nurturing innovative and skilled fashion professionals.
The Fashion Show featured a vibrant display of stylish clothing and textile designs, with students bringing to life different cultures from the African continent. Nigerian traditional raiment took centre stage, with intricate designs and regal patterns that evoked the grandeur of Nigerian royalty and class. The Ghanaian traditional culture was also brought to life through poetries, cultural dance and textile designs. The event was further enhanced by captivating cultural displays, including traditional dance and music performances that electrified the atmosphere.
The student models showcased their designs on the runway, featuring diverse range of outfits, including official outfits, dinner wear, summer casuals, and gala attire. Matilda Wilson, a participant in the event, expressed her excitement about being part of the Fashion Show. "It showcases the amount of energy and resources we have invested, and now we are reaping its benefits. I am sure there is more to come," she stated, beaming with pride.

The event had in attendance, Prof. Sophia Pardie Ocran (Dean of Students Affairs), Dr. Mrs. Ekua Nkrumah Akuffo (Head of Fashion Design and Textile Studies Department), Dr. Stephen Agyefi-Mensah (Ag. Director of Works and Physical Development), Mr. Abdul Malik (Director of Adehyi Hill Institute of Technology Management, Cape Coast) and Ms. Irene Ampong (Department of Vocational and Technical Education, University of Cape Coast).
The CCTU campus was abuzz with excitement as students, faculty and the general public gathered to witness the students' hard work and creativity on display. The event was a proud moment for the University, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence and innovative programmes.
