PEER COUNSELLING TRAINING OPENS AT CCTU

The Guidance and Counselling Unit, of Cape Coast Technical University in collaboration with Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank), has successfully launched a Peer Counselling Training programme for students. The launch, which took place on Friday, July 5, 2024, aimed at equipping students with essential counselling skills to support their peers.

The programme sponsored by Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) was designed to promote mental well-being and academic success to nurture a supportive community on campus. Participants were expected to learn effective listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills to guide and support their fellow students.

The initiative demonstrated the commitment of Management and the Guidance and Counselling Unit to students' welfare and holistic development.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, praised the Bank for its support and congratulated all the participants for their involvement. He hoped that the training would positively impact the University community.

The programme was attended by Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Anthony Turkson, Registrar; Prof. Charles Oppong, Dean of the Student Affairs, Dr. Cynthia Derx-Techie, School of Applied Arts and Acting Librarian: Mrs. Anita Ohene Darko, Head of the Counselling Unit; Ms. Lillilove Asomaning, Assistant Counsellor, and Mr. Isaac Benyin, Branch Manager, GT Bank Cape Coast.
