CCTU ALUMNUS, DR. VICTOR MAWUTOR AGBO, BAGS PHD. IN CANADIAN UNIVERSITY
Dr. Victor Mawutor Agbo, a proud alumnus of the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Recreation and Leisure Studies by the University of Waterloo, Canada, in the year 2025. His current qualification stems from the strong foundation he gained from the CCTU’s Tourism Management Department, where he completed his Higher National Diploma (HND) in Tourism Studies in the year 2011. Building on this foundation, Dr. Agbo earned a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from the University of Cape Coast in 2015 and a Master of Environmental Studies (Geography) in 2019 from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

Dr. Mawutor Agbo’s doctoral research employed critical ethnography to examine how colonial and neo-liberal power relations shape tourism education in Ghana, and to develop decolonial frameworks that centre indigenous knowledge and foster more inclusive pedagogies. His master’s thesis explored community-based ecotourism as a sustainable governance model for Ghana’s Atewa Forest, blending rigorous case-study methodology with stakeholder collaboration.
