CAPE COAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY ORGANISES INVESTITURE CEREMONY FOR ITS FIRST CHANCELLOR

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), on Thursday, 31st October, 2024 organized a colourful investiture ceremony for its first Chancellor, Dr. James Condua Orleans-Lindsay at the University's Ceremonial Grounds.

The investiture ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in CCTU's history, after its conversion into a Technical University status in 2016, ushering in a fresh era of leadership and governance.

The ceremony featured keynote addresses from esteemed guests, including the Deputy Minister for Education (TVET), Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, the former Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr.  Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osaberimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II and the Paramount Chief of New Juabeng Traditional Area, Nana Kwaku Boateng II.

The Deputy Minister for Education (TVET), Prof. Kingsley Nyarko, the representative of the Minister for Education, praised CCTU's progress and pledged support for the University's growth. He acknowledged CCTU's role in providing quality technical and vocational education and promised to collaborate with the University in future projects.

Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, in his address, emphasized the significance of technical education in driving Ghana's development. He praised CCTU for its contributions to human resource development and encouraged the University to continue producing innovative, entrepreneurial and skilled graduates. He expressed confidence in Dr. Orleans-Lindsay's ability to lead CCTU to greater heights.

The Chancellor, Dr. James Condua Orleans-Lindsay, in his induction address, expressed gratitude for the honor and outlined his vision for CCTU. His vision included enhancing academic excellence, fostering industry partnerships, promoting research and innovation, expanding infrastructure and resources, and strengthening alumni relations. "I am humbled by this appointment and pledge to work tirelessly to promote CCTU's mission", he stated: "We will strive for excellence in all aspects of University life", he added.

Dr. Orleans-Lindsay also promised to address pending challenges, including infrastructure and football pitch development, with the help of government, alumni and personal networks.

Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, the Vice Chancellor of the University, expressed gratitude to the Governing Council, Management and the University Community for their support towards the Chancellors Investiture. "This investiture marks a new chapter in CCTU's history, and we look forward to Dr. Orleans-Lindsay's guidance and leadership", Professor Boakye stated.

The event featured a fundraising campaign to support two significant projects: the 40th Anniversary Legacy Project and the Orleans-Lindsay Students’ Hostel Project. These initiatives demonstrate CCTU's commitment to providing a conducive living environment empowering students for success.

The investiture of Dr. Orleans-Lindsay as CCTU's first Chancellor signifies a new era of leadership and governance, enhanced academic credibility and reputation, strengthened partnerships with industry and stakeholders, and increased opportunities for growth and development.

The ceremony brought together government appointees, dignitaries from academia and industry, traditional rulers and religious leaders.
