Cape Coast Technical University Honours Ing. Abdulai Mahama as the Distinguished Alumnus of the Week.
The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, recognised one of its outstanding alumni for his sterling achievements. Ing. Abdulai Mahama was named the “CCTU Alumnus of the Week”.
The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor of CCTU, Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw, presenting his profile on the University’s radio station Eagle 87.7MhzFM, praised Ing. Abdulai Mahama's professional accomplishments, highlighting his dedication to advancing his engineering career.
Prof. Kwaw mentioned that Ing. Abdulai Mahama began his life as a young boy in Burma Camp, Accra. He had his basic education at Garrison Junior High School in Burma Camp, after which he proceeded to Koforidua Secondary Technical School, where he studied Building Construction and completed in 1998.
Driven by a passion for engineering, he continued at Cape Coast Technical University, earning a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Civil Engineering in 2003. He fulfilled his National Service with a civil engineering consultancy firm, which subsequently employed him in 2004, Prof. Kwaw added.

Ing. Mahama furthered his education and obtained a Bachelor’s degree
in Civil Engineering from KAAF University College, graduating with First Class Honours.
His thirst for academic and professional excellence led him to Coventry University in the
United Kingdom, where he pursued a Master’s degree in Engineering Project Management in 2015.
“He distinguished himself by winning the Overall Best Student Thesis Award. Professionally, Ing. Mahama is a Civil Engineer with over 20 years of experience in road and building consultancy. He currently serves as the Geotechnical/Materials Engineer for major national projects, including the Nsawam Bypass and the Nsawam–Suhum–Apedwa Road,” Prof. Kwaw noted.
He is the Chief Executive OďŹicer (CEO) of Matras Engineering Services Ltd., a firm specialising in all forms of civil construction and consultancy services. Ing. Mahama holds the position of Senior Project Manager for the 10-Lane Ofankor–Nsawam Road Project, part of the Accra–Kumasi N6 Highway, one of Ghana’s largest ongoing road infrastructure projects. He is a proud member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-Gh).
Ing. Abdulai Mahama expressed gratitude to the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, University Management, the Directorate of Public Affairs, staff, students, and alumni for the recognition. He urged students to remain focused, work hard, and make good use of the internet for academic and career advancement.
