CCTU Launches Honours Certificate Programme to Enhance Students’ Skills

Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) has launched an Honours Certificate Programme, designed to equip students with essential skills for success in today's competitive job market. The Honours Certificate Programme features a range of courses including Confidence Building and Public Speaking, Social Media Marketing, Organisation and Leadership, Curriculum Vitae Writing and Interviewing Skills, Computer Skills, and Etiquette, Grooming and Personal Branding.

The Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Sophia Padi Ocran, in her welcome address at the launch held on June 19, 2025 at the EDA Model Lecture Theatre, mentioned that the programme would enhance students' employability and career prospects by enabling them cultivate professional online presence, leadership skills, and strategic thinking abilities. It would also enhance their professional and personal brand, and promote the development of effective communication and collaboration skills .

Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, the Vice-Chancellor, who Chaired the event highlighted that employers prioritised attitude and soft skills alongside technical competence. "Our brand of education at CCTU seeks to prepare you to speak with clarity, lead with integrity and to present yourself with confidence". he stated. He added that the programme reflected CCTU's commitment to holistic education and aimed to produce graduates who were not only technically competent but also possessed the soft skills required to excel in their chosen careers.

Prof. Boakye commended the Academic Board and a team of dedicated staff for making the programme a reality and urged students to grab the opportunity with a positive attitude to receive the intended impact of the training. "I hope that this programme will propel CCTU from good to great," he remarked.

In all, thirty (30) final year students have been enrolled to pursue the Honours Certificate Programme. They were introduced to their facilitators and informed that  successful students, at the end of the programme, would receive certification during the upcoming congregation.

The launch of the Honors Certificate Programme marks a significant milestone for CCTU, demonstrating its commitment to providing students with a holistic education that prepares them for the demands of the contemporary job market and succeed in their chosen careers.
