TWO DAYS SEMINAR FOR ACADEMIC STAFF

The Directorate of Human Resources of the Cape Coast Technical University organised a two (2) day seminar from Wednesday, June 5, 2024, to Thursday, June 6, 2024, for academic staff on the topic, “Publishing in Reputable Outlets”. The Seminar was held in the University Library Conference Room. It covered themes such as the Importance of Scholarly Publication, CCTU Promotion Criteria and Characteristics/Indicators of Credible Publication Outlets.

The facilitators were Mr. Michael M. Bentil, Director of Human Resources; Dr. Maurice T. Apaliya, the Vice Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Dr. Wisdom W. Pomegbe, the Head of Department of Marketing Studies. The Director of Human Resources made a presentation on the requirements for promotion for teaching staff as enshrined in the Technical University Scheme of Service. He emphasized the need for lecturers to collaborate to produce world-class publications with a global reputation.

Dr. Pomegbe and Dr. Apaliya took staff through identifying fake publication outlets to enable staff not to become victims. They also added a list of reputable publishing outlets to guide staff who needed help in that regard.

The seminar was attended by lecturers from all the Schools in the University. At the end of the seminar, the Director of Human Resources thanked both presenters and participants and entreated participants to avail themselves for other trainings to be organised by his Directorate.
