The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, formally inducted Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) leavers into the Young Engineers Programme (YEP) at the University’s Engineering Block, ushering in a new cohort of aspiring innovators.

The ceremony drew Management, faculty, students, parents, and distinguished guests to witness the official admission of participants into the initiative of the School of Engineering, designed to nurture technical talent and inspire future leaders in engineering.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw, underscored the programme’s mission to instil confidence, provide mentorship from seasoned engineers, and equip participants with practical skills to transform ideas into solutions for society. He emphasised engineering’s pivotal role in national development and urged inductees to uphold discipline, excellence, and teamwork.

He further stated that all participants in the induction programme who wished to pursue programmes at Cape Coast Technical University after the release of their examination results would be entitled to complimentary admission forms.

Prof. Eric Awere, Dean of the School of Engineering, highlighted the importance of cultivating innovation and technical expertise among young people, stressing that YEP was tailored to meet the demands of Ghana’s expanding industrial sector.

Administering the induction oath, the Registrar, Dr. Anthony H. Turkson encouraged participants to fully engage, network, and acquire the knowledge necessary to excel, assuring them of Management’s unwavering support for their academic journey.

Engr. Prof. Kwame Anane-Fenin, Chairman of the School of Engineering Vacation School Committee, further announced that, through a sponsorship initiative, ten (10) underprivileged female participants from the communities surrounding Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) had been selected to enroll in the Young Engineers Programme at no cost.

The event concluded with a guided tour of the School of Engineering laboratories, where inductees were introduced to facilities that would support their training. With this induction, the Young Engineers Programme continues to stand as a vital platform for shaping the next generation of engineers poised to drive technological advancement and economic growth.
