CCTU HONOURS OSABARIMBA
The Cape Coast Technical University in collaboration with the Oguaa Traditional Council celebrated the Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, with a public lecture. The event which honoured Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II on his 25 years of leadership and commitment to the development of the Oguaa Traditional Area, took place at the GNAT Hall, Cape Coast, on August 3, 2024.
Professor Emmanuel Kwamina Bamfo-Agyei, Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, delivered the lecture, titled "UNITY AND RE-VITALISATION OF DEVELOPMENT IN OGUAA: THE CASE OF THE "KƆTƆ". He highlighted four key areas of the "KƆTƆ" (Crab): Resilience and Adaptability, Resourcefulness, Community Strength, and Connections to Development.
Prof. Bamfo-Agyei debunked the notion that the Crab which is the symbol of Oguaa (Cape Coast) is the main reason for the city's lack of progress, instead emphasizing the proactive and strategic thinking of the Crab in problem-solving. The Lecture also showcased developmental projects in the Traditional Area, including the Kotokraba market, rice factory, Ameen Sangari, and Environmental Education Center (CCTU visitors center).
The Lecture was under the chairmanship of Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, the Vice-Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University. At the end of the lecture the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Management and staff of the University presented a plaque to Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II in recognition of his meritorious achievements in the development of Oguaa Traditional Area.
In attendance were: Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II, Nananom from the Traditional Area, the Vice-Chancellor, Ag. Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors, Heads of Department, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Heads of Regional Security Services, the Regional Director of Education, the Regional Chairman of CHASS, the Metro Director of Health, the Headmaster and Old Boys of Adisadel College and family members of Osabarimba.
