Department of Renewable Energy and Technology
Dr. Mohammed D.H. Zebilila – Acting Head of Department
The Bachelor of Technology in Renewable Energy Technology seeks to train students with the requisite knowledge in analysis, design, production, installation and maintenance of Renewable Energy Technologies. Courses in this programme are designed to bridge the skill gaps in the renewable energy sectors. In particular, the Bachelor of Science in Renewable Energy Technology will focus on improving the use of existing indigenous materials and technologies in the production of RE technologies. Graduates would become proficient in modelling renewable energy systems and their components, solving the steady-state power flow problem, problems associated with long and short-term energy storage, the use of renewable and non-renewable energy sources, load scheduling and shedding, energy auditing.
Vision
The vision of the Department is to be the leaders in Renewable Energy Research and Training establishment to help trainees appreciate and implement sustainable energy technologies.
Mission
To provide hands-on teaching and research opportunities in Renewable Energy Technology to students and interested persons to aid the country in achieving the SDG 7 on clean energy leading to a safe environment for all.
Goal
The goal of the Renewable Energy Technology (RET) programme is to train students in the application and innovation of existing technologies that integrate design, construction, installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
