The Cape Coast Technical University Council on May 16, 2023, organized an orientation programme for the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye at the University Council Chamber. Other participants at the programme were the Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Directors and Union Leaders of the University. 

The Registrar, Dr. Francis Narh Akrono welcomed the resource person Professor Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, the Vice-Chancellor of the Methodist University College, Accra. The Registrar in a brief welcome address indicated that the purpose of the orientation was to enable the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor be abreast with the relationship with the key administrative officers, Deans, Directors and the Union Leaders. Again, the orientation was to give him first-hand information about administrative procedures, the University Statutes and other policies.

Prof. Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson during the programme touched on channels of communication in tertiary institution, emphasized on strict adherence to the University Statutes/other policies, prudent management of the scarce resources, operationalization of committee systems and governance structures, promotions as well as lessons about institutional best practices.  He affirmed that the interactive session of the orientation sought to bring to the fore experiences and challenges of the University. The resource person intimated that the programme would help improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the University while sharpening the needed skills of participants to handle challenges in the discharge of their duties.

The Vice-Chancellor at the end of the programme remarked that he believed that the impact of the orientation would enable him and other office holders to re-orient their minds as well as adjust in their leadership and supervisory roles to bring about the needed transformation and ultimately to achieve what was best for the University. He expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of all invited.

At the end of the orientation programme, the Deans, the Directors and the Union Leaders expressed their appreciation to the University Council for the programme and described it as an insightful experience.
