CCTU Welcomes Fresh Students at 31st Matriculation Ceremony: A New Chapter Begins

 

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Friday, February 28, 2025, held its 31st matriculation ceremony, marking the official welcome and induction of fresh students into the University. The ceremony, held at the University's Ceremonial Grounds, was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, the Registrar, Dr. Anthony H. Turkson, Deans of School, Heads of Department, Convocation and other members of the University.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the fresh students on their admission to CCTU and encouraged them to take advantage of the University's academic and extracurricular opportunities. "We are delighted to welcome you to the CCTU community," Prof. Boakye said, "We believe that you have made an excellent choice in selecting CCTU as your institution of higher learning."

He announced that a total of three thousand, three hundred and seventy-two (3,372) students had been admitted to the University, comprising forty-one (41) Master of Technology (M. Tech) students, two thousand, three hundred and fifty-five (2,355) Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) students, two hundred and seventy-two (272) Higher National Diploma (HND) students and seven hundred and four (704) Diploma students. From the total, 57% were males and 43% females. This represented a 112% increase in admission as compared to the previous year.

Prof. Boakye emphasized that the University was committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. He highlighted the University's efforts to improve student life on campus, including renovating and re-equipping lecture halls, procuring new tables and chairs for lecture halls, installing new projectors and undertaking painting works. He also mentioned the reroofing of the Students’ Hostel and two (2) new boreholes to be drilled by the end of the year to improve water supply.

The Vice-Chancellor declared that the year 2025 had been designated as the "Year of the Student" and that Management was committed to making life on campus better for students. "We are committed to providing you with a world-class education and training. We want to ensure that you would have a memorable and enjoyable experience at CCTU", he stated.

He ended his address by advising the new students. Quoting from the Bible (Romans 12:2), the Vice – Chancellor urged the students to embrace change by being transformed by the renewal of mind. He called on them to note that they were not in the Institution by chance but by choice, therefore, they should make good of their choices and enjoy what CCTU had to offer.

The matriculation ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the fresh students. As they took the matriculation oath, pledging to abide by the University's rules and regulations, they were filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation.
