CCTU 13TH SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH CONFERENCE OPENED
The 13th Sustainable Education and Development Research Conference of Cape Coast Technical University scheduled to take place from Wednesday, August 28, 2024, to Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the School of Graduate Studies, UCC auditorium was duly opened.
The opening ceremony was done by the Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour representing the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He was assisted by the Vice Chancellor of CCTU, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye host of the Conference. Hon. Rev. Fordjour conveyed warm regards from the President to all participants and indicated that despite the endowment of the African continent in natural resources, the time had come for the continent to leverage education to emerge out of poverty and other challenges facing it. He further pledged the Ministry’s commitment to assisting in localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Ghana making it understandable and implementable. He commended the University for organizing such a crucial conference.
On his part, the Vice Chancellor of CCTU welcomed participants and noted that CCTU was proud to be associated with such an important international conference where rich knowledge would be shared with participants. He encouraged them to also share the rich contents of the conference with the next generation.
Prof. Joseph N. Mojekwu, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Nigeria, chaired the conference. The Keynote addresses were read by Prof. Letlhokwa George Mpedi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg and Prof. Rexford Asassie Oppong of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Awards were given to the President, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and other participants who distinguished themselves in various disciplines.
Academics from Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa attended the Conference.
