3RD GHATUSA GAMES: CCTU WINS 31 MEDALS, CROWNED THIRD

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on April 13, 2025, at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium Cape Coast, was awarded the third (3rd) position in the “CCTU 2025” 3rd Ghana Technical University Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games, after a ten-day fierce competition amongst nine (9) equally competent Technical Universities in Ghana.

CCTU hosted and won the third (3rd) place after picking up nine (9) gold, twelve (12) silver and ten (10) bronze medals, making a total of 31 medals, in sporting disciplines such as football, volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, scrabble and athletics.

Takoradi Technical University (TTU) won the first (1st) position with thirty (30) medals; ten (10) gold, twelve (12) silver and eight (8) bronze medals, followed by Tamale Technical University (TaTU) at the second (2nd) position with nineteen (19) medals; ten (10) gold, four (4) silver and five (5) bronze medals.

Accra, Kumasi, Ho, Koforidua, Bolgatanga, Dr. Hilla Liman, and Sunyani Technical Universities finished fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively in the competition.

The men’s athletics team of Cape Coast Technical University was adjudged the overall best in athletics, while TaTU women’s athletics team was crowned the overall best women’s team.

The Chairman of Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities, Ghana (VCTU-G), Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, in his remarks at the closing ceremony, congratulated all participating athletes and thanked the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for making the games very successful. He stressed the important role of sports in promoting national development and urged students to exhibit good behaviour in their respective endeavors.

Sunyani Technical University was handed over the GHATUSA flag, signifying that it would host the next edition of the GHATUSA games slated for the year 2027.
