21ST CONGREGATION: CCTU ORGANIZES 2ND CONGREGATION IN A YEAR
The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Saturday, 30th November, 2024, successfully organized a second colourful congregation ceremony in the year 2024, for over 1,000 students who pursued various Bachelor of Technology, (B-Tech), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Diploma programmes—the first, to have happened since the inception of the University.
The unprecedented feat also went into the annals of the University as the first congregation ceremony hosted by the first Chancellor of the University, Dr. James Condua Orleans–Lindsay. It was a momentous occasion as the University community celebrated the academic achievements of graduands whose hard work and determination had yielded significant results.
The 21st Congregation Ceremony saw 1,358 graduands, 677 at the Bachelor of Technology level (B-Tech), 378 at the Higher National Diploma (HND), and 303 at the Diploma level.
The Chancellor of the University, Dr. James Condua Orleans–Lindsay, in his welcome address expressed profound joy saying.. “I am honoured to celebrate this occasion with you as Chancellor of CCTU. Your achievement today is a testament to your dedication, resilience and pursuit of excellence”.
Dr. Orleans – Lindsay, urged fresh graduates to carry forward the values of integrity, innovation and service which were the trademarks for graduates of Cape Coast Technical University. He thanked families and guardians for supporting the fresh graduates in their academic journey.
Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice Chancellor of the University, in a comprehensive report, applauded both teaching and non-teaching staff of the University as he highlighted some remarkable achievements by the University. He stressed that the University continues to lead in providing cutting-edge technical education, equipping students with skills and knowledge that are critical to driving Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
He mentioned that the University had made strides in terms of infrastructural development, by refurbishing and retooling of ten (10) lecture halls to enhance the teaching and learning environment. According to Prof. Boakye, the University Library had been equipped with resources to support digital learning and encourage independent scholarly work.
Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, said students’ accommodation remained a grave challenge but was hopeful that initiatives by TUTAG, the Chancellor, and other prospective investors would yield the expected results within the shortest possible time.
In his speech, the Guest Speaker, Mr. Aaron Adu, an alumnus of the University offered valuable advice to the graduates emphasizing the importance of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship in today's fast-paced world. Mr. Adu, the Managing Director of the Global Shea Alliance, a nonprofit industry association with 849 members from 36 countries, admonished the graduands to embrace challenges for their personal and professional growth, stressing that life would only give them what they worked for and not what they deserve.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries including the Chairman of the Governing Council of CCTU, Prof. Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi, the immediate past Registrar of CCTU, Dr. Francis Narh Akrono, the MP for Cape Coast North, Kwamena Minta Nyarku (PhD), the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Cape Coast North, Horace Ekow Ewusi, and the Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Dr. Kwesi Atta II. Outstanding graduates received various awards and were congratulated. They were challenged to be worthy ambassadors of CCTU as they embarked on their careers.
