Profile of Dr. Kodjo Atiso
Dr. Kodjo Atiso is the University Librarian of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU). He holds a PhD from the University of Missouri, USA, MA and BA from the University of Ghana and LLB University of London, UK. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Ghana Library Association (GLA), the American Library Association (ALA), Missouri Library Association (MLA), the International Association of Agricultural Information Professionals and few others. He also serves as a consultant/assessor for the National Accreditation Board (of Ghana) on matters affecting academic libraries.
Dr. Kodjo Atiso had his primary education at the Methodist Primary School at Koforidua Akwadum, and later at Ada Local Authority Primary School. He later attended the Experimental Junior Secondary School in Ada, a suburb of Koforidua. He received his secondary school education at Koforidua Secondary Technical School.
He taught for a while and decided to further his education at the University of Ghana. At Legon he majored in French and Political Science. As a Graduate teacher, he taught Social Studies and Government at Abuakwa State College Kibi, Easte Region.
In the year 2000, Dr. Atiso enrolled at the library school at the University of Ghana and completed in 2002, and his career as an information professional was just about starting. His first job as a professional librarian started at the Islamic University College in Accra. Here, he made a lot of contribution to the library by introducing a customized electronic cataloging, which was then new in the system. After serving for two years, he joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. He then took time off and enrolled at the University of Missouri, USA for his PhD in Information Science and Learning Technologies.
His research interests include institutional repositories (IR), digital libraries, usability studies and socio- cultural factors affecting scholarly communication in the developing world. In December 2019, he was appointed university librarian for Cape Coast Technical University.
Dr. Atiso has presented papers in local and international scenes and has participated in many projects within and outside Ghana. He has a lot of scholarly papers to his credit serves as a reviewer for a number of scientific journals.
