The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) transformed its Ceremonial Grounds into a vibrant runway of creativity, culture, and innovation on Friday, July 17, 2026, as the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles Studies hosted its spectacular Annual Fashion Show.

The event attracted a large audience,  including University Management, staff, students, media practitioners, parents, alumni, and invited guests, such as students from the Cape Coast Technical Institute and the University Practice Senior High School.

Held under the theme "A Fusion of Culture and Future-Forward Design," the Show celebrated the richness of African heritage through contemporary fashion. Student designers presented collections inspired by African traditions, architecture, nature, and wildlife, blending indigenous aesthetics with modern design concepts to produce bold, innovative, and visually striking garments.

The runway featured an exciting display of creativity across three categories—Summer Casuals, Official Wear, and Dinner Wear—each demonstrating the students' technical proficiency, originality, and readiness for the competitive global fashion industry. Every collection reflected months of research, craftsmanship, and artistic excellence.

Adding to the spectacle were captivating performances of traditional Ghanaian music and dance, which infused the event with energy and reinforced the University's commitment to celebrating and preserving Ghana's rich cultural heritage.

The Fashion Show underscored CCTU's dedication to competency-based education by providing students with a platform to translate classroom knowledge into industry-standard practice. It also highlighted the University's unwavering commitment to nurturing innovative, entrepreneurial, and globally competitive fashion professionals.

Reflecting on the experience, a student designer, Adiza Nuhu described the Show as a rewarding milestone. "All that investment is paying off. The impact is clear, and we're only getting started," she remarked.

The event concluded with enthusiastic applause, networking opportunities, media interviews, and a photography session, marking yet another successful chapter in the Department's pursuit of excellence in fashion education.

Through the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles Studies, Cape Coast Technical University continues to position itself as a leading institution for creative arts and technical education, equipping students with the skills, innovation, and industry exposure needed to excel in the ever-evolving global fashion landscape.
