04th, October 2025

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), as part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, is recognising the outstanding contributions of its graduates through the “Alumnus of the Week” initiative. The weekly honour highlights alumni who have excelled in their fields and continue to embody the University’s values.

The recognition began with Engr. Prof. Eric Awere, the Dean of School of Engineering, as the first honouree, followed by Surv. Prof. Emmanuel Bamfo-Agyei, the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research.

The third recipient was Engr. Surv. Prof. Jonas Ekow Yankah, the Dean of School of Built and Natural Environments, who was celebrated last week.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, commended Prof. Yankah’s academic and professional journey, noting that his Higher National Diploma in Building Technology (2003) from CCTU laid the foundation for further studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Building Technology and a Master’s degree in Construction Management. “He went on to earn a Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and later acquired a certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands” he added.

In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Yankah expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and University staff, stressing that achievements should serve as motivation for others to work hard and contribute to the University’s vision.

The “Alumnus of the Week” is one of several initiatives introduced by Management, the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the Directorate of Public Affairs and the 40th Anniversary Planning Committee to celebrate excellence.

Complementing this, the “CCTU Story”, which is the 40th Anniversary series, airs every Thursday on Eagle FM 87.7 MHz at 1:30 p.m., spotlighting the University’s milestones, while the “Campus Vibes Show”, on Sunday evenings, profiles personalities, highlights student life and campus activities, keeping the University Community actively engaged.
