As part of the Cape Coast Technical University’s (CCTU) 40th Anniversary activities to honour and project the accomplishments of hardworking alumni, Mr. Paul Akyin-Mensah was unveiled as the Distinguished Alumnus of the Week on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. This was meant to inspire other members of the University and the Alumni community.

The Acting Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw, presenting Mr. Akyin-Mensah’s profile on Eagle FM 87.7MHz, the University’s radio station, commended him on his reappointment as Head of the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat. “As Senior Assistant Registrar, Mr. Akyin-Mensah has consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment to duty. His outstanding achievements and unwavering pursuit of excellence are highly commendable” he stated. Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw further acknowledged his invaluable contributions to the University community and his ability to inspire others.

Mr. Paul Akyin-Mensah’s tertiary educational journey commenced with a Higher National Diploma in Secretaryship & Management Studies from CCTU in 2006. Building on this firm foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Management Studies in 2012 and a Master of Business Administration (General Management) in 2019, both from the University of Cape Coast, where he obtained advanced knowledge in strategic planning, organisational behaviour, and business operations.

He began his career at Cape Coast Technical as a Clerk in June, 2000. This foundational experience equipped him with a solid understanding of the administrative structure and processes of the University. He was promoted to the Senior Staff grade as Administrative Assistant in 2006 and during the year 2011, he served as Senior Administrative Assistant (Secondment) in the Office of the Rector, where he assisted in the development of strategic initiatives and facilitated communication to the departments. In 2013, he was promoted to Principal Administrative Assistant while working at the Office of the Registrar, CCTU.

Mr. Akyin-Mensah received his promotion to the rank of Junior Assistant Registrar in 2019, and Assistant Registrar in 2022. Through hard work and commitment, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Assistant Registrar in February, 2025.

Following his introduction, Mr. Akyin-Mensah expressed heartfelt appreciation for being recognised as the Alumnus of the Week and for the opportunity to serve in his extended role at the Vice-Chancellor’s Secretariat.

He encouraged the youth to remain optimistic, emphasising the importance of positive thinking in all endeavours. Quoting a song by Akosua Agyapong that had greatly inspired him, he said: “In everything you do, attach faith. Believe it will be well, and it shall go well.” He explained this statement that  whatever goal one sets in life could be achieved through faith and determination.

Mr. Akyin-Mensah also advised against comparing oneself to others, noting that God created each person as a unique individual with distinct  abilities. He therefore encouraged listeners to recognise their unique paths and pursue their dreams with confidence.

He concluded by urging everyone to maintain pure intentions towards others, saying, “if your heart is pure, your prayers will be answered.” He added that with faith, integrity and positive principles, one can succeed in life.
