Strengthening Strategic Partnerships: CCTU Pays Courtesy Calls on Regional Minister and Immigration Service

In a strategic move to deepen institutional partnerships and promote hands-on practical education and training, the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) paid separate courtesy calls on the Central Regional Minister and the Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The visits formed part of the University’s broader engagement agenda aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and promoting regional development, positioning CCTU as the leading hub for engineering education, entrepreneurship, and industry-oriented training in the region.
The CCTU delegation included the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye; Mr. Kwabena Owusu, the Director of Finance; Mrs. Hannelore Asmah, the Acting Director of Public Affairs; Dr. Richmond Yaw Yeboah, the Vice Dean of the Directorate of International Programmes and Institutional Linkages; Ms. Barbara Obeng-Dwamena, the Public Relations Officer; Mr. James Baidoo and Mr. Tony Boakye (Documentation and Information Section of the Directorate of Public Affairs).

The delegation’s first visit was at the Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service, where it met with the Regional Commander – DCOI Michael Asare-Bediako and other senior officers, including 2IC- DCOI Constant Boateng; Supt Clement Doku; DSI Michael Afedi Gizo, Regional Staff Officer; DSI Joseph Odartey Lamptey, OIC Enforcement and DSI Nana Abu Ntramoako (OIC Intelligence).

Prof. Boakye highlighted the University’s growth agenda, noting its target of increasing student enrolment to 30,000 by 2030. He stressed the importance of strengthening ties with the Ghana Immigration Service to support this vision in terms of international students’ immigration processes. He encouraged continuous dialogue to create mutually beneficial opportunities.
Welcoming the delegation, the Regional Commander lauded CCTU for its contributions to education and training and expressed the Service’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that supported international students, capacity-building programmes, and national development objectives.
The delegation’s final stop was at the Regional Coordinating Council, where the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, received the delegation in his office. He commended the University for its contribution to academic excellence and community development within the region. He emphasised the importance of stronger collaborations between the University and government institutions to address developmental challenges in the areas of engineering, sanitation, and food security to engender socio-economic development.

The Regional Minister commended CCTU’s forward-looking approach and pledged support for initiatives that promoted technical education and training, innovation, and youth empowerment within the region.

Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and
highlighted the University’s commitment to producing graduates who were not only academically competent but also capable of driving innovation, creating businesses, and contributing meaningfully to national development, citing the upcoming Summer Programmes and Young Engineers Programme expected to roll out in the coming months. “Our vision is to build a new generation of entrepreneurs and engineers who will become problem-solvers and job creators”, Professor Boakye stated.
Professor Boakye reiterated CCTU’s commitment to supporting regional development initiatives through research, innovation, and community engagement.
The institutional visits emphasised the University’s commitment to building stronger institutional partnerships that enhanced entrepreneurship, engineering excellence, innovation, and practical skills training for sustainable development.
Both meetings ended with presentations of the University’s memorabilia and group photographs, marking the beginning of promising partnerships.
