UNICEF GHANA REP VISITS CAPE COAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Ghana representative, Mr. Osama Makkawi Khogali on Monday, November 18, 2024, paid a courtesy call on the Management and Staff of the Cape Coast Technical University at the Council Chamber.
The visit was to help Mr. Khogali and his team, familiarize with the various Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, on-going projects and policies of the University. Also, the meeting meant to explore potential areas of collaboration and partnership to drive mutual growth and social impact.
Discussions centered on how CCTU's research and capacity-building initiatives could benefit pre-tertiary education, ensuring children were equipped to meet the technological and sanitation challenges of the 21st century.
The UNICEF representatives expressed their desire to seek ways to demystify the gender perspectives held by the masses in Africa and Ghana which was negatively affecting Technical Vocational Education and Training.
The Vice-Chancellor of CCTU, Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, in his welcome address, emphasized CCTU's commitment to developing students' heads, hands, and hearts by providing hands-on knowledge to meet the 21st-century needs. He proposed a National Technical Vocational Education and Training conference to educate the public about the benefits of TVET programs for all genders.
Dr. Anthony Turkson, the Registrar of CCTU, called for a Trainer of Trainers collaborative workshop in order to train teachers/ instructors at the pre-tertiary level so as to impact young learners. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue communication and explore further partnership opportunities.
