Forestry Commission’s Deputy CEO Promises "Something Significant" for Cape Coast Technical University
04th, December 2025
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ghana's Forestry Commission, Mr. Elikem Kotoko, has pledged to deliver a major project to Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), describing it as a debt of gratitude to the Institution that shaped his career.

Speaking as the Keynote Speaker at the University's 40th Anniversary Public Lecture on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the alumnus made an emphatic promise: "I have promised myself that come what may, there should be something significant I must do for this Institution."
Mr. Kotoko revealed that he previously attempted to bring American investors to establish a solar plant at the University in 2015-2016, an initiative that unfortunately did not materialise. "We have had a second chance now. I do not know if it will be solar, but since I am in the forest, I will see what I can do for this Institution," he stated.

Beyond the major project, the Deputy CEO announced immediate research collaboration opportunities between the Forestry Commission and the University. He specifically highlighted UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate change as a priority area, urging faculty to take advantage and offering the Commission's assistance in supporting their work.
Mr. Kotoko challenged the University to intensify Its role in producing environmental technologists, innovators and advocates equipped to tackle Ghana's ecological crisis. He described the Institution's research capabilities, student curiosity, and technical skills as "indispensable in building a more sustainable future for this country." Mr. Elikem Kotoko urged students to see themselves not merely as beneficiaries but as protectors of Ghana's natural heritage.
