Institutional Tour – Day 2: CCTU Pays Courtesy Call on University Catchment Area Chiefs

The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, visited chiefs in its catchment area on Wednesday, 25th February, 2026.

The purpose of the visit was to interact with the Chiefs and seek their support and cooperation in the development and advancement of CCTU. The communities visited included Dankwakrom, Amissano, Nanabakrom, Sewin, and Amoyaw.

At Dankwakrom, the Chief, Nana Kojo Dankwa IV, and his elders warmly received the delegation. He expressed appreciation for the visit and termed the visit historic, saying, “For Management of the University to visit this Community has never happened before, and so we are very happy.

He noted that the Community was ready to partner with the University for local development, adding that it had lands for farming and residential development that could be considered for utilisation under proper documentation.

Prof. Boakye, in his address, thanked the Chief and his elders for their good neighbourliness since the establishment of the University. He noted several key initiatives currently underway at CCTU, such as enhanced e-learning facilities and strengthened skills training programmes, resulting in increased student enrollment.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, called on Dankwakrom to continue to be the eyes of Management in the Community. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to ensuring the socio-economic development of the Community. 

At Amissano, the Chief, Nana Egyir I, and his elders, after a warm reception, thanked the CCTU Team and petitioned Management to assist the Community in terms of employment to curb the high rate of unemployment in the community.

At Nanabakrom, Sariki Abdul Dawda, the Chief, expressed delight at the visit while receiving the delegation. He said the visit was timely as the Community had waited for such engagement for years. He prayed for CCTU and Management.

While at the Amoyaw Palace, the Chief, Nana Kwesi Amoyaw III (an Alumnus of CCTU), expressed excitement at the visit and applauded his alma mater for the bold initiative of engaging with chiefs and elders in its catchment area. He encouraged Management to continue with the initiative for a sustained relationship.

In a nutshell, day two (2) of the institutional tour ended on a positive note; all the chiefs in the five communities expressed their admiration for the visit and assured Management of their continued support to drive sustainable community development.
