The Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), in partnership with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI), officially launched the CCTU-GNCCI Junior Chamber on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the University’s Building Auditorium. This pioneering initiative has been institutionalised to equip students with practical entrepreneurial skills and real-world business exposure.

Led by the School of Business and Management Studies, the CCTU-GNCCI Junior Chamber aims to foster a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem among CCTU students and Ghana’s youth in general through capacity-building programmes, mentorship, business support services, internships, and hands-on training.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Eugene Owusu Acheampong, Dean of the School of Business and Management Studies, emphasised the Chamber’s role in tackling youth unemployment. He noted that entrepreneurial success required not only financial resources but also strong networks and social capital.

Mr. Mark Badu-Aboagye, CEO of GNCCI, highlighted the Chamber as a platform for business networking, ideation, and support to enhance student-led entrepreneurial ventures.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, described the initiative as a strategic intervention to address Ghana’s youth unemployment challenge. He pointed to CCTU’s ongoing programmes, including the Career Fair, School of Business Incubator, Young Engineers’ Programme, and Summer Skills Camp, as complementary efforts to provide students with entrepreneurial skills.

GNCCI President, Mr. Stephane Miezan, underscored the Chamber’s commitment to private sector growth, networking opportunities, and market access through trade fairs and exhibitions. He urged students to identify societal challenges, look out for the opportunities in them, and transform them into stepping stones for success: “The future belongs to those who build and create. With the right attitude and determination, you will achieve great things.”

The Guest Speaker, Hon. George Justice Arthur, Chief Executive of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, stressed the importance of entrepreneurship in Ghana’s development agenda. He noted that the initiative aligned with government’s broader strategy to promote entrepreneurship as a driver of employment and economic resilience. He also referenced the Assembly’s eight-year development plan aimed at creating jobs and enhancing socio-economic wellbeing, while calling for collaboration among private sector players, development partners, and government agencies.

Adding a personal success story, Ms. Doris Kukua Edzeani, an Alumna and former SRC Secretary, now CEO of Kuks Perfect Foods, shared her entrepreneurial journey. She recounted how she built a business employing nearly 20 people, her successes and how she overcame challenges through resilience and focus. She encouraged students to leverage social media for both academic and professional growth.

The launch brought together students, faculty, industry leaders, and government officials, and featured the inauguration of Interim Student Executives and Patrons. To cement the collaboration, CCTU and GNCCI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formally establishing the Junior Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The ceremony was a significant milestone in advancing entrepreneurial opportunities for youth and promoting national economic progress.
