The Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs and the Guidance and Counselling Unit of Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) embarked on a three-day working visit to the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) from March 30 to April 2, 2026.
The visit brought together officials from both Institutions to strengthen institutional collaboration, exchange ideas, share best practices, and improve student support services.
The five-member delegation from CCTU participated in seminars, observed administrative procedures, and interacted with key stakeholders on issues relating to student welfare and institutional governance. Discussions focused on student welfare, mental health support, discipline, leadership development, guidance and counselling interventions, as well as strategies to enhance students’ emotional well-being and academic success.
The CCTU Team included Prof. Sophia Pardie Ocran (Dean of Students’ Affairs), Dr. Grace Anthony (Vice Dean of Students’ Affairs), Mrs. Gloria Blay Mienzah (Assistant Registrar), Mrs. Anita Ohene-Darko (Head of Counselling Unit), and Ms. Lillilove Asomaning (Guidance and Counselling Officer).

Prof. Augustina Akonnor, Dean of Students and Head of International Programmes at GIMPA, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of collaboration among tertiary institutions in addressing emerging student-related challenges. She noted that continuous professional engagements among student affairs practitioners remained essential to improving service delivery.
The delegation also met with Dr. Mrs. Victoria M. P. Kunbuor, the Secretary of GIMPA, to learn more about the Institution’s students’ association management systems. In addition, the Team attended a seminar on the application of Artificial Intelligence in academic and administrative work, which highlighted the growing role of digital technology in improving efficiency and decision-making in higher education.
On behalf of the delegation, Prof. Sophia Pardie Ocran expressed gratitude to the Management and staff of GIMPA for their warm reception and support. She explained that the engagement aligned with CCTU’s commitment to learning from reputable institutions and adopting effective systems that would benefit both students and staff.
The visit ended successfully, with both institutions affirming their commitment to strengthening cooperation and sustaining professional exchanges in areas of mutual interest. The collaboration is expected to contribute significantly to the enhancement of student support services at CCTU and further deepen relations between the two Institutions.
