24th, April 2026
On Monday, April 20, 2026, the Central Regional Manager of GCB Bank PLC, Mr. Anthony Sowah, paid a working visit to Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU). In his company was Ms. Rachael Agyapong, GCB Bank PLC Manager, UCC Branch. The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen existing collaborations between the two institutions and introduce new initiatives for mutual benefit. The engagement took place at the University’s Council Chamber.

The session opened with introductions by Dr. Anthony H. Turkson, the Registrar of CCTU, who presented members of Management, including the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye; the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Kwaw; and the Director of Finance, Mr. Kwabena Owusu.

In his remarks, Mr. Sowah announced a new initiative by GCB Bank to partner with estate developers in providing housing for CCTU staff through a mortgage payment system. He explained that the initiative was designed to make home ownership more accessible and affordable.

Responding on behalf of Management, Mr. Owusu welcomed the proposal and emphasised the need for flexible mortgage interest rates to encourage staff participation. He further suggested that support should also be extended to staff members already building homes—a provision Mr. Sowah confirmed was included in the initiative.

The Vice-Chancellor highlighted the University’s growth trajectory and future expansion plans, noting the importance of such partnerships in supporting staff welfare. Other matters discussed included the Bank’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) operations on campus and clearance processes.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the Vice-Chancellor, who expressed appreciation to GCB Bank PLC for its continued collaboration and commitment to supporting the University community.
