The Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities of Ghana (VCTU-G) have successfully delivered a high-impact Professional Training Workshop and Capacity-Building Programme for Senior Members (Non-Teaching) of the Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Held at the J. K. Borsah Library Conference Room and coordinated by the Directorate of Human Resource, the session featured distinguished facilitators: Dr. Christopher Amehoe (Former Registrar, Ho Technical University and Immediate Past Chairman of the Committee of Registrars and Directors of Finance), Mr. Augustine Kwame Owusu (Director of Finance, Ho Technical University), and Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi (Executive Secretary, VCTU-G).

The workshop, part of VCTU-G’s nationwide initiative, equipped Senior Non-teaching Administrators and Professional Staff with contemporary administrative skills. Participants were engaged in modules covering; Institutional Governance and Public Sector Ethics, Advanced Records Management and Digital Data Security, and Administrative Writing and Publications Ethics.

Prof. Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, Vice-Chancellor of CCTU, underscored the vital role of Senior Administrative and Professional Staff (SAPS) in higher education governance. He emphasised that as CCTU expanded admissions and postgraduate offerings, the efficiency of Senior Non-Teaching Staff remained crucial to sustaining national and international standards.

Dr. Christopher Amehoe highlighted mentorship, experience, exposure, and qualifications as key to strengthening administrative capacity, likening SAPS to a bicycle chain that kept the Institution moving forward. Mr. Joseph Mensah Oti-Asirifi stressed the importance of effective administrative writing for accountability, transparency, and professionalism. Mr. Augustine Kwame Owusu presented on the financial ethics and regulations that governed the operations of technical universities and public institutions.

The session was attended by senior CCTU officials, including Registrar – Dr. Anthony H. Turkson, Mr. Kwabena Owusu – Director of Finance, Director of Human Resource – Mr. Michael M. Bentil, Acting University Librarian – Dr. Augustine Aduko Alu, and Director of Public Affairs – Mr. Alexander K. Azameti.

The workshop ended with CCTU Management and VCTU-G assuring participants of continuous professional development to keep staff adaptable, digitally skilled, and prepared for the future.
