22nd February, 2020; The Cape Coast Technical University has held its 2nd Congregation ceremony for both tertiary and non-tertiary students. The event, which was held at the Ceremonial Grounds, saw a total of 882 students being awarded with Diplomas, Professional Diploma, Higher National Diploma and Bachelors degrees.

Rt. Rev. Professor Joshua Danso Owusu-Sekyere, the Vice-Chancellor in his address, admonished the graduates to make their certificates speak for them as they go ahead in their fields of work. He advised graduates to work heartily as unto God and country. The Vice-Chancellor also hinted that from next academic year (2020/2021), the University will introduce eleven (11) new B. Tech. programmes. This he said, includes, B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering, B. Tech. Agricultural Engineering, B. Tech. Civil Engineering, B. Tech. Construction, Automation, and B. Tech. Electrical and Electronic Engineering, B. Tech. Applied Statistics, B. Tech. Hospitality Management, B. Tech. Industrial Accounting and Finance, B. Tech. Food and Post-Harvest Technology and B. Tech. Renewable Energy

Speaking on behalf of Prof Kwesi Yankah, the Minister of State in-Charge of Tertiary Education, Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency and the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, commended the University for the effective utilisation of its scarce resources, and assured them of government’s continued support to the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes. She assured the University, of government's resolve to tackle staff and infrastructural deficit to absorb the expected huge numbers of the first batch of the Free Senior High (SHS) graduates expected this year.

Mr. Kennedy Awusah, from the Marketing Studies Department was adjudged the Overall Best Graduating Student and picked both the Kojo Asemanyi and Ernest Arthur awards for 'Overall Best Graduating Student and Best Graduating Business and Management Student respectively.


The congregation ceremony was attended by some Council Members, Management, Convocation, Staff of the University, Alumni, the media, and representatives from sister Universities including Vice-Chancellors and Registrars.
