PROFILE OF THE PRO VICE CHANCELLOR

Prof. Samuel Kwame Ansah assumed office as the First Substantive Pro Vice Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University on January 3, 2020. Prior to his appointment, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Building Technology at the Cape Coast Technical University.

He joined Cape Coast Technical University (then Cape Coast Polytechnic) as a Laboratory Technician in the Department of Building Technology in November 1999. He was promoted to Senior Laboratory Technician in November 2002. In October 2004, he traveled to the United Kingdom to pursue further studies at the London South Bank University, London and returned in 2007. He was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Building Technology, Cape Coast Polytechnic (now Cape Coast Technical University) in November, 2007. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in March 2012 and to Associate Professor in March 2015.

Prof. Samuel Kwame Ansah has held several positions in the Technical University, including Vice Rector, Dean of School of Engineering, Head of the Building Technology Department. From August 2011 to January 2017, he served as a member of the Cape Coast Polytechnic Governing Council. Also, he has served on almost all the key Standing and Ad-hoc Committees of the Technical University including the Appointments and Promotions Board, Postgraduate Scholarship and Staff Development Committee, Examination Committee, Finance Committee, Finance Sub-Committee, Development Committee, Academic Board, Executive Committee of the Academic Board, Planning and Estate Committee, Library and Bookshop Committee, Information Communication Technology (ICT) Committee, Examination Committee, Joint Admission Board, Public Relations Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Industrial Liaison Committee, Students’ Affairs Committee, Examination Malpractice Committee, Disciplinary Board and a member of the Committee that established the Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) Degree programme in the Department of Building Technology.

Prof. Samuel Kwame Ansah is an accomplished academic, researcher and administrator with both local and international experience. He has researched extensively and published thirty five (35) peer reviewed papers. He is a member of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) University-Affiliates Liaison Committee. He was the President of the Cape Coast Polytechnic National Alumni Association between 2011 and October 2015 and Organizing Secretary of Polytechnic Teachers Associationof Ghana (POTAG), Cape Coast Polytechnic Branch. He is a Corporate Member of Ghana Institute of Construction (GIOC).

Prof. Ansah is a product of Cape Coast Polytechnic now Cape Coast Technical University where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Building Technology in 1998. In 2007, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Construction Project Management from the London South Bank University, London, United Kingdom. He also holds Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree in Building Technology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. He has completed his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in Engineering Management at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa and awaiting graduation which is scheduled for March, 2020.

He was born in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He is married to Lucy Ansah and they have three lovely children, Leticia, Gillian and Priscilla.
