CAPE COAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY TOURISM STUDENTS EMERGED AS WINNERS

Two students, Amos Noye and Esther Nana Efuah Kumi Rockson of Tourism Department have been crowned winners of the 2018 Central Regional Tourism Awards. The event, World Tourism Day, took place at Cape Coast Castle on Wednesday, September 26, 2018.

 

As part of the country’s aim in promoting its cultural heritage, a debate was organized for some selected Tertiary Tourism Students in Cape Coast Metropolis. Students from Cape Coast Technical University were fortunate to be nominated to compete with other intellectuals from the University of Cape Coast Hospitality and Tourism Department. The debate was organized on the topic “Is Digital Marketing actually better than traditional Marketing Promotion?’’.

 

After several arguments on the ‘’hot seats’’, participants from CCTU were adjudged the overall winners of the debate. During the event, the Regional Director for Ghana Tourism Authority,  Mr. Kwame Gaysie and some lecturers from both Universities came to the grace the occasion to make it a success.

 

Again this year, the Tourism Department in Cape Coast Technical University has brighten the image of the University, by winning the Excellence in Tourism and Development in Hospitality Industry Award. On 22ndFebruary, 2019, the Ghana Tourism Award (GTA) recognized the department’s contribution to education, training and development. This led to the conferment of an excellence award to the department for her outstanding performance as an Institutional Support for Tourism Promotion and Development in the Central Region, more particularly, the nation as a whole for the year 2018.

 

Mr. Ato Anaman, Head of Tourism Department received the award on behalf of the University and the department. He was accompanied by Professor S.B. Owusu-Mintah and Mr. Godwin Slonimpah, who are both lecturers at the department.
