The Vice-Chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University, Rt. Rev. Ing. Professor Joshua Danso Owusu-Sekyere has admonished the University Community to unite behind him to assist in rewriting the chequered past of the University. According to the Vice-Chancellor, the University in the past has been fraught with challenges that have negatively affected the University's development. He, therefore, called for effective collaboration between the University community and other stakeholders. Professor Owusu-Sekyere was speaking at his induction ceremony which took place on Friday, February 21, 2020.Rt. Rev. Ing. Prof. Joshua D. Owusu-Sekyere is the first substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Rev. Prof. Harold S. Amonoo-Kuofi, administered the Oath of Office to the Vice-Chancellor and advised him to allow the University Council, Academic Board, and other Statutory Committees to function in the administration of the University.

Present at the investiture were Hon. Barbara Asher Ayisi, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency and Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area, Members of the University Council, Representatives from the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and National Board for Professional and Technician Examination (NABPTEX), Vice Chancellors and Registrars from sister universities,former colleagues at the University of Cape Coast, family members, Alumni of CCTU, Adisadel College Old Boys, staff and students of CCTU.

Professor J. D. Owusu-Sekyere holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from Cranfield University in the UK (2005), M.Sc. in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Hohai University, China (1998) and B.Sc in Agricultural Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana (1990).

He joined the University of Cape Coast, Department of Agricultural Engineering in 1992 as a Research Assistant and rose through the ranks of an Assistant Lecturer (1998-1999), Lecturer (1999 - 2007), Senior Lecturer (2007- 2010), Associate Professor (2010-2012), to a full Professor in 2012. Rt. Rev. Prof. Joshua D. Owusu-Sekyere, between 2008 and 2015, served in various capacities at the University of Cape Coast. He was the Head of Department, Acting Vice Dean and Vice-Dean at the School of Agricultural Science. Between 2016 and 2018, he was appointed as the Rector of the Perez University College whilst on Sabbatical leave.

Rt. Rev. Ing. Prof. Joshua Danso Owusu-Sekyere is a practicing Christian and an overseer of the Word of Faith Mission, Ghana. He is married to Mrs. Bernice Owusu-Sekyere and has two children.
